ICANNWatch.org is a collaborative effort aimed at providing a central point of reference, a kind of hill overlooking the often-chaotic issues surrounding the development of the domain name system (DNS) and related governance issues. It is unincorporated and operates thanks to volunteer dedication, as well as to free and open source software.
ICANNWatch started their work with a PHP-Nuke website, but after a year of active use the limitations of their software were starting to hold back their work, and they wanted a more substantial platform. They liked Slashcode, but no one had ever migrated a site of their volume from PHP-Nuke to Slashcode before.
In 2002, with the help of a generous grant from the Markle Foundation, Openflows developed a script to migrate their articles, polls, comments and user accounts into the new software. (See ICANNWatch’s Press Release for more details on the migration.)
The script we wrote is available under the GNU Public License, version 2.
