In 2003 Openflows customized a website content management system for Democracy Now! and developed a free and open source scheduling and production utility, Rundown, to meet the producers needs without costly proprietary software licenses. Rundown provides on-air-hosts with background on their interview subjects and gives producers a line to the host during live shows. If a segmant runs over or stops short, Rundown helps the producers assess timing and adapt the remaining segments on the fly. The software integrates a contacts database, multiple levels of security, onscreen production managment, and more, and is now freely available as open source software.
The web system we setup was maintained by the staff of Democracy Now! for over 4.5 years and was recently replaced by a system they wrote in-house.
