As Canada's only nationally televised debate show, CBC Newsworld's CounterSpin needed a way to facilitate their production process. They were searching for a forum in which the production team could share their ideas and plan for upcoming shows.
Openflows was able to provide an organizational framework that allowed for increased efficiency and improved communication. Production team members are now able to post messages to the production website, as well as read the messages of their co-workers. This site can be accessed from any computer, allowing the team to contribute new ideas at any time.
CounterSpin producers have used this forum to submit debate questions, potential guest speakers, and video clips, all of which are then considered by the rest of the team. As the members review the information posted to the site, they are able to make their own contributions and suggestions. From the initial planning to the final product, the forum provides a simple and efficient way to structure and organize the show.
While the production site can only be accessed by members of the production team, Openflows has also provided CounterSpin with a public site. This website encourages audience feedback and strengthens the show's connection with public. Home viewers are able to involve themselves with the show by posting their comments about recent episodes. They are free to discuss the show and the issues presented during the debate. By encouraging audience input, CounterSpin is able to get a better sense of how the show is received.
As part of the process of modernizing the production team's resources, Openflows has set up a system to digitally archive the CounterSpin episodes. These videos are then streamed through the CounterSpin website, and are accessible to the public. This allows both the public and the production team to view past episodes online, strengthening the show's internet presence.
Using the tools of Open Source Intelligence, Openflows has provided CounterSpin with improved production resources and a more interactive relationship with the viewers. CounterSpin producers are now able to easily communicate with each other and prepare for upcoming shows.
